The Growth of Gaming & E-Sports
Do you remember your first experience playing video games?
I’m old enough to remember the Gameboy, but the first time I truly felt a rush playing video games was when I played GTA 3 at my cousin Hafiz’s house. I still remember that day. It was on PlayStation 2, and I was in a stolen car trying to lose the cops.
Call it escapism, entertainment, the need to distract yourself from life’s BS but video games were a big part of my life.
But, unfortunately, it was never a money maker. Instead, video games were considered a distraction from success. It was impossible to think that you could make money playing video games back then.
Before we get into the money-making part, let’s see how big the gaming industry is now.
The gaming industry has increased by half a billion players in the past three years, totaling 2.7 billion people globally. The report predicts more than 400 million new gamers are expected by the end of 2023. (source)
The Rise of E-sports
It was July 2019, and I was having lunch with my mom when my brother bursts into the living room telling us a 16-year-old won the Fortnite World Cup and got paid $3 million. His name is Kyle Giersdorf, and he did what every teenager loved to do, play video games.
He’s one of the best players in the world, and let’s be real; you probably aren’t as good as him. Heck, you’re probably not even as good as me.
But, for him to make that much money, there must have been big viewership.
According to Fortnite:
Over 19,000 fans attended the three-day Fortnite World Cup Finals in person at the sold-out Arthur Ashe Stadium. On Sunday during the Solo Finals, concurrent viewers peaked at over 2.3 million across YouTube and Twitch, making the Fortnite World Cup the most-watched competitive gaming event (excluding China) of all time. (source)
Let’s compare those numbers to the Tokyo Olympics, according to NPR:
For The Tokyo Olympics Average prime time viewership was just 15.5 million people, down from an average 26.7 million for the Rio Games in 2016. (source)
The world is changing. E-sports viewership is starting to beat regular sports viewership.
There will be 26.6 million monthly esports viewers in the US this year, per Insider Intelligence estimates. (source)
The Current State of Gaming and NFTs
If you’re invested in the Crypto market, then you know Gaming & NFTs are blowing up right now.
The market cap has passed over $10 billion, and trading volume is over $2 billion right now.
The Growth In Online Sports Betting
I know it seems like I’m sharing random stats like a sports commentator, but this will make sense once I start explaining Chain Games.
If you’re a sports fan, more than likely, you’ve bet money on a game. However, I didn’t know how big the online sports betting space was until some dude on Instagram asked if I wanted to buy his top A1 picks.
The global online sports betting market is anticipated to expand from USD 24,988.4million in 2019 to USD 59,530.7 million by 2026, at a substantial CAGR of 13.6% during the review period. The rising popularity of sports is expected to fuel market growth. (source)
In Comes Chain Games, The Perfect Storm
I shared all these stats and changes the world is experiencing to show you how perfectly positioned Chain Games is.
So, what is Chain Games? I had the special privilege of asking the Founder of Chain Games, Adam Barlam, some questions. His answers have been used in this article to help me break down Chain Games.
Chain games seem to be growing and evolving since you first launched. How would you describe what Chain games is now?
Chain Games is pushing the envelope and transitioning the blockchain gaming industry into the modern gaming era via non-custodial smart contracts that revolve around eSports play 2 win, and play 2 earn models in addition to incorporating NFT-enabled gameplay where NFTs can actually be used in game and also be game agnostic. Imagine being able to have a skin or item you earned or bought in one game work in other games on the network, and then having the ability to sell/trade these items at any point in time on an NFT marketplace. We are creating a circular economy that revolves around eSports gaming and gaming items.
During the Gold rush, the people who sold the shovels made more money than the miners themselves. Blockchain gaming seems to be the next big Gold rush. Would you consider chain games to be selling the shovels?
Yes, we are providing the service for which people can actually utilize crypto gaming tokens. We plan to be ubiquitous with the term blockchain gaming and NFTs, and are focusing on the utility of our token to do such.
What Can You Do On Chain Games?
Chain Games is a multiplayer competitive platform that brings eSports tournaments and real cash and crypto prizes to players.

If you’re wondering what the platform looks like, currently Chain Games platform is going over a significant facelift and this is what it’s going to look like
Chain Games Market Cap
This is where I share that this is not financial advice but simply my personal and humble opinion that you should take for good entertainment value, okay?
Chain Games, at its current market cap, is highly undervalued. My investment thesis when it comes to technology is platforms always win.
What’s the next development on Chain games you are super excited about and why?
We are extremely excited about both our upcoming partnerships with traditional gaming companies and crypto/blockchain projects, as well as our Unity SDK which will allow any developer, from Indie to major studio to seamlessly integrate with our smart contracts and blockchain gaming and NFT ecosystem. This SDK will allow these developers and gaming studios to add another stream of previously unrealized revenue into their gaming titles, so really it's a no-brainer for them to integrate with us.
Platforms that enable people to build something better and of value will always win, given the marketplace needs that solution.
During Bitcoin’s big run in 2021, Chain Games almost reached $1. However, I believe Chain Games will blow past that $1 mark.
Chain Games Future
What’s the grand vision for Chain games? What do you hope to achieve?
We want to be at the forefront of the blockchain gaming movement, and really push the envelope. More than half the world identifies as "gamers". We feel this is the easiest path of least resistance in order to transition the traditional world (both gaming and not) into the blockchain and crypto ecosystem. We feel we can be that segue which allows crypto and blockchain to become "mainstream".
With gaming and NFTs being the next big wave in Crypto, Chain Games plans on being the platform both gaming developers and gamers will use for the inevitable coming future, a world where games have their own functioning economy that you and I can participate within.
Crazy, I know. Our grandparents could have never dreamed this.
This best summarizes the gaming future, & Chain Games is positioning itself to be a part of it.
Here’s one more question I asked Adam for fun :)
The last question I have for you is, have you ever won any tournaments on Chain games?
Haha! I have won a few CHAINO tournaments, and select matches in Super Crypto Kart. But I have to say we have some very talented and skilled players who beat me quite regularly, especially in Super Crypto Kart!
